CHICAGO — BUILD THE FIGHT FOR MEDICARE FOR ALL!

  • Edgewater Presbyterian Church 1020 West Bryn Mawr Avenue Chicago, IL, 60660 United States (map)

Two-thirds of American working people support universal public healthcare coverage. We need to build a vibrant national campaign to win universal free public healthcare coverage, most widely recognized as Medicare for All. Working class, poor and oppressed communities across the country are in desperate need of comprehensive healthcare.

We need a strategy to bring together in a single, national movement the forces that are willing to fight for Medicare for All and who recognize that the Democratic Party is not the vehicle to win it.

The principle of a universal healthcare system is a single plan providing healthcare free at the point of service for anyone in need of care, there can be no exceptions for anyone to get better care than anyone else based on their ability to pay: "everybody in, nobody out". To win this bold demand, and to prevent erosion of care as we have seen in other countries with universal healthcare coverage, it would be necessary to abolish the private health insurance industry.

What is needed in this moment is a serious, nationally coordinated, class struggle based campaign to win Healthcare for All. We need a fighting strategy, including mass protests and strike action, to tax the rich to fund a free public healthcare system, including full coverage for dental, vision, reproductive and gender-affirming care.

Join us for a discussion on the strategy, and concrete action, to build such a movement.
