Join us for our monthly national meeting to discuss the fight against the AI billionaires. Big Tech, Wall Street, the billionaires and multimillionaires are gambling the whole economy on AI, spending trillions of dollars and using vast amounts of energy, water, and other resources to build out and run massive data centers to power this technology. AI is currently being deployed for many harmful and dangerous purposes. ICE is using AI to help with raids, detentions, and deportations of working people, and AI is being deployed in wars, including by the Israeli state in it's genocide of the Palestinian people.
We'll also discuss this week's U.S. election results, which represent a widespread repudiation of Trump's vicious anti-worker, pro-war agenda, including his support for AI and data centers, with major defeats for the Republicans around the country. Working people want an end to ICE terror, an end to the war on Iran, and to be able to afford housing, healthcare, groceries, and transportation — and we don't want data centers in our communities! But even though Trump and the Republicans were defeated, we also know what Democratic Party rule looks like. The Democrats under Biden presided over a massive increase in the cost of living, provided weapons for Israel's genocide, and broke the railroad workers' strike, among many other anti-worker pro-war policies. The Democratic Party serves the capitalist class, including the AI billionaires.
Working people need independent political leadership that is willing to fight both billionaire-backed pro-war parties, like how Workers Strike Back co-founder Kshama Sawant used her position on the Seattle City Council for a decade. She led movements to go to war against the political establishment to win the highest minimum wage in the nation, the Amazon Tax, many landmark renters' rights laws, and much more. Working people need to get organized around this type of fighting strategy to win higher wages, to stop the war machine, and to stop the data centers — that's why we're building Workers Strike Back.
