Kshama Sawant is running for Congress as an independent revolutionary socialist against genocidal billionaire-backed Democrat Adam Smith.
During her decade on the Seattle City Council, Kshama built movements to win historic renters’ rights, such as a $10/month cap on late rent fees, six months’ notice of rent increases, economic evictions assistance, and a ban on winter evictions. She mobilized tens of thousands of people to win the historic Amazon Tax, which funds hundreds of millions of dollars annually in affordable housing by taxing big business.
Kshama’s independent campaign for Congress is calling for national rent control and to spread her renters’ rights victories. She is also calling for an end to U.S. military aid to Israel, to stop the deportations, for free healthcare for all by taxing the rich, for a $25/hour national minimum wage, and for cancelling all student and medical debt.
Both the Democratic and Republican parties are bought out by big real estate developers and the corporate landlords who profit from skyrocketing rent.
We need to elect Kshama as the first-ever revolutionary socialist to the U.S. Congress, to fight back against the corporate landlords and both their parties. We need strong national rent control and a massive expansion of publicly owned, high-quality affordable housing by taxing the rich, as Kshama won in Seattle as part of the Amazon Tax.
