Like working and young people across the nation, University of Missouri students and workers are reeling under the cost of living crisis.
Graduate students are part of the backbone of the research and teaching that the university relies on for its reputation. Yet, they are paid very low wages, often as low as $2,000-$2,200/month. Many graduate students have families with young children, and have been told by the administration to go to the local food bank for assistance! Undergraduate student workers are also grossly underpaid at $8-$11/hour, even though they do essential work to make the university run. Meanwhile, the UM System has a $2 billion endowment and pays President Choi nearly $1 million/year.
University of Missouri Students & Workers United stands in solidarity with the antiwar movement on UM campuses and nationwide. We condemn the genocide on Gaza, and demand an end to U.S. military and political aid to the Israeli state.
