Tell Seattle City Council Democrats:
HANDS OFF OUR $15/HOUR MINIMUM WAGE VICTORY!
Democratic Councilmembers, led by District 3 Councilmember Joy Hollingsworth, are attempting to permanently freeze a lower tier minimum wage for well over 200,000 workers. In addition to creating a permanent two-tier wage system, the Democrats’ bill would actually threaten to lower wages by $1/hour for workers who receive commissions or piece-rate pay. This is a blatant attack on Seattle’s working people – we need to fight back!
Seattle’s historic $15 minimum wage victory was won in 2014 by the 15 NOW movement, socialist Councilmember Kshama Sawant, workers, and union members. We made Seattle the first major city to win the $15/hour minimum wage, including annual inflation adjustments. We won then despite the opposition by the Democratic Councilmembers. Now Democrats are, yet again, doing the bidding of exploitative corporations and the capitalists.
WE DEMAND:
Immediately withdraw this legislation – NO to a two-tier wage system for Seattle workers!
Oppose ALL future attacks on our $15/hour minimum wage victory
A Real Raise – a national $25/hour minimum wage
Good Union Jobs for All — we need to rebuild a fighting labor movement that can defend our victories and fight for more
