After Kshama’s historic campaign, on to the next fight

After a year of intense campaigning, we won the highest ever vote, by far, for a revolutionary socialist candidate for Congress, with 17.3 percent of voters in the district choosing Kshama. We achieved this despite the myriad obstacles and maneuvering by the Democratic and Republican parties. This was an absolutely historic campaign.
Through this campaign, we spread the incredible history of how Kshama used her position on the Seattle City Council to win major victories for working people. We need more political leaders who are willing to take this approach if we are going to have a shot at turning the tide against the billionaires and their political servants in the US and around the world. And we need to continue to expose the gatekeepers who betray working people and hold back movements by tying them to the Democratic Party.
Venezuela: No to Trump’s Threats and Sanctions
Trump is ramping up his campaign to overthrow the Maduro government in Venezuela. He has imposed crippling sanctions and is even threatening military intervention, continuing a bloody two-century history of U.S. imperialism asserting its “interests” in Latin America – in reality the interests of big business.
Letter of Support from Jewish Voice for Peace to Councilmember Kshama Sawant (2014)
In 2014, Jewish Voice for Peace sent a letter of support to Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant, who served for ten years as the only socialist on the Seattle City Council. The letter thanks Councilmember Sawant for her letter to the Obama Administration condemning the continuation of violence in Gaza, and calling for an immediate end to U.S. military aid to Israel.
